Happy Valentine’s Day from Rapture
Xbox Crushes
In honor of Valentine’s day I have chosen 3 women from the wide world of games that if they existed in real life I would awkwardly try to catch their eye. I only chose women from Xbox games, because that is the console I play on the most and I had to narrow it down somehow. So in no particular order here are the women, I think, that make us fight harder and care more about saving the world.
Cortana - Halo Series
Why she gets hearts pounding: We met Cortana on the bridge of the Pillar of Autumn. She informs us we were followed by Covenant forces from Reach, makes a snarky comment, and then tells us its time to bail. From that moment on Cortana became not only our guide to the Halo universe, but also our guardian angel and our one true companion. The brain to our brawn, without her Master Chief would just be a gun with legs. Her relationship with Master Chief is one of the best examples of platonic love that can be seen in the Industry.
Ideal date: She obviously likes physical guys, and if she had a body she could probably keep up with the Chief (or at least Sgt. Johnson). I’d take her to a club where she could dance and feel at home amidst the lasers and strobe lights.
Anya - Gears of War series
Why she gets hearts pounding: The planet Sera is a world ravaged by a three-way battle. It’s everyone for themselves and companionship is hard to find. But the members of Delta Squad are lucky, because they have Anya covering their asses. In the first 2 Gears games, Anya was our link to the surface when we were underground and our link to hope when all seemed lost. Watching her and Marcus interact revealed real human empathy in a world stripped of everything but the need to survive. Then in Gears of War 3 we saw she could handle a Lancer with the best of them. Compassionate with an itchy trigger finger, what more could you want?
Ideal date: Even though she can keep up with the the rough-necks that make up the COG military force, you know she has a softer side. I’d take her paint balling with a trip to a spa after to soak away the welts.
Lilith - Borderlands
Why she gets hearts pounding: Women are hard to find on Pandora amidst the psychos and skags. Lilith is even harder to find due to her ability to Phasewalk. Since she is a playable character and not an NPC (like the previous women), an in-game relationship never developed, but its not hard to imagine! Though she may have started her journey on Pandora for selfish reasons, she still helped defend the planet against zombies, a crazed military, and rogue Claptraps. Sexy, mysterious, and domineering, Lilith is the epitome of femme fatale. She would have no problem seducing you to help her on a mission and then leave you for dead. Here’s looking forward to seeing how Gearbox fleshes her out in Borderlands 2.
Ideal date: She has a hankering for wealth and prestige and would look stunning in a formal dress. I’d take her for a night of gambling where her looks would distract the other players while the chips pile up.
